I fished this old hulk out of the bush a few weekends ago,

Image

Looks much worse than it is and I figure with a bit of effort I can save it.

Had great luck at recent swap meet, the new old stock door was a bargain. The front fender may be beyond redemption but it was free with the running boards. They need new covers but are solid with only a bit of surface rust where the rubbers are worn through.

Image

The green door has a few layers of paint but it's solid and rust free.

Image

The boot-lid has the usual rust along the lower edge but the inner panel is good so it should be easy to fix with a couple of patches.

Image

Yesterday I got real lucky, picked up a brand new repro front fender. It's bare metal and perfect. Got another from an ad in Just Parts, pretty bad surface rust but it's straight and a good coat of high build should hide any pits in the surface.

Image

A mate gave me the grungy rear fender and again I think it's beyond saving, but not impossible if it's the only option. The green fender and the rear apron are both fibreglass, but I can live with a bit of 'plastic' for the time being until I can afford or find steel. Got then out of the Trading Post for a song.

Image

Had the chassis under the house for a while now so sent it out to be sandblasted and primered. Will really get stuck in now I have most of the bits. Will use Corvette rear, dropped Superbell up front, discs all round and something seriously overpowered (blown?) for motivation.

8) These dioramas come up a treat! The photos ad another dimension to them.
Do you set them up, take photos and reuse the components in another seen? Or do they stay as they are once they are done?

The garage is just like a real garage, it changes daily as the current project car eveolves.

So the basic garage scene is common just the cars are different.

I am in the early stages of building a larger street scene diorama, that will include this garage, plus on the other side of the street a fully equipped service station with large forcourt, workshop and the whole box n dice. There's be on street parking and a nice yard with this garage located in it.

I have a Pallet load of future projects for "one day" . What you are doing there is damn inspirational. But do me a favour, cover up that engine when you're not working on it :D

 Sorry fellers some of Carps pics no longer work.

The pics have to be on a photobucket album and not be deleted or have the details changed. The other way is to use the photo host provided by the forum host.

 Perhaps if the site grows I will get a photobucket pro account and pay to have the annoying adds removed. At present it’s a free site so we put up with the adds.
