I fished this old hulk out of the bush a few weekends ago,
Looks much worse than it is and I figure with a bit of effort I can save it.
Had great luck at recent swap meet, the new old stock door was a bargain. The front fender may be beyond redemption but it was free with the running boards. They need new covers but are solid with only a bit of surface rust where the rubbers are worn through.
The green door has a few layers of paint but it's solid and rust free.
The boot-lid has the usual rust along the lower edge but the inner panel is good so it should be easy to fix with a couple of patches.
Yesterday I got real lucky, picked up a brand new repro front fender. It's bare metal and perfect. Got another from an ad in Just Parts, pretty bad surface rust but it's straight and a good coat of high build should hide any pits in the surface.
A mate gave me the grungy rear fender and again I think it's beyond saving, but not impossible if it's the only option. The green fender and the rear apron are both fibreglass, but I can live with a bit of 'plastic' for the time being until I can afford or find steel. Got then out of the Trading Post for a song.
Had the chassis under the house for a while now so sent it out to be sandblasted and primered. Will really get stuck in now I have most of the bits. Will use Corvette rear, dropped Superbell up front, discs all round and something seriously overpowered (blown?) for motivation.
